How do I create a weekly meal plan with a shopping list?
Open the “Week plan” tab in Cove, add recipes to your meals, then tap “Generate Shopping List”. Cove collects the ingredients of all planned meals and, after you confirm, adds them to your shopping list, merging items that are already there.
Step by step
- Open the “Week plan” tab and switch between “Day” and “Week” to see the days you want to plan.
- Tap “Add Meal” for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner or Snacks, choose “Pick a Recipe” and select a recipe from your cookbooks.
- When the week is filled, tap “Generate Shopping List”. Cove shows the ingredients that will be added.
- Confirm with “Add to Shopping List”, then open the “Shopping” tab and tick items off while you shop.
You can also share the plan with “Share Week Plan”: add it to your calendar, share it as text or add it as reminders. The weekly plan and the shopping list are part of the free version.
More questions
- Is meal planning free in Cove?
- Yes. The weekly plan and the shopping list are free; the free version is limited to 15 recipes in your library.
- Can I add items to the shopping list that are not from a recipe?
- Yes. In the “Shopping” tab you can add any item yourself with “Add to List”, search or type its name and pick a category.
- What if an ingredient is already on my list?
- Cove merges it with the existing entry or skips it and tells you how many items were merged or already in the list, so nothing is doubled.
- Can I share my weekly plan?
- Yes. “Share Week Plan” offers “Add to Calendar”, “Share as Text” and “Add as Reminders”. Calendar and Reminders ask for your permission first.
- Which meals can I plan?
- Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. In the settings under “Week plan” you choose which of these meals are visible.
- Does the plan work offline?
- Yes. The weekly planner and the shopping list work without an internet connection; only importing new recipes and syncing need one.
