How do I save recipes from TikTok and Instagram?
Share the post to Cove (Share, then Cove) or paste its link into Cove under “Import a link”. Cove turns the caption and, where needed, the video’s audio into a recipe with ingredients and steps. Importing social posts needs the Collector or Chef tier; recipe websites import for free.
Step by step
- In TikTok or Instagram, open the video or reel and tap Share (the arrow in TikTok, the paper plane in Instagram).
- Choose “Copy link”. Alternatively pick Cove in the iOS share sheet; depending on the app version it sits behind “More” or “Share to…”. Cove then confirms with “Got it!” and keeps the link in its import queue — in that case you can skip the next step.
- In Cove, tap + (“Add recipe”), choose “Import a link”, paste the link and tap “Import recipe”.
- Wait a few seconds. The finished recipe appears under “Recently imported” in Cookbooks; check it and sort it into a cookbook.
Shared links are not imported by the share sheet itself: Cove imports them as soon as you open the app, oldest first. Limits: a video can be up to 10 minutes long.
More questions
- Which platforms can Cove import from?
- Cove imports from TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube posts, from any recipe website, and from photos and PDFs. The app itself is available in English and German; recipes can be in any language and the result follows your app language.
- Is importing from TikTok or Instagram free?
- No. Links to recipe websites are free and unlimited, but social posts need Collector ($5.99 once, 10 social imports a month) or Chef ($24.99 once, up to 150 a month, shown as unlimited under fair use). The counters reset every month.
- Does the recipe appear right after I share the post?
- Not instantly. The share sheet only saves the link; Cove imports it when you open the app, so the recipe waits for you under “Recently imported”.
- What if the post has no written recipe?
- Cove reads the caption first and uses the video’s audio when the caption is not enough. If it still cannot find a recipe, it tells you so and you can write the recipe yourself with “Write a recipe”.
- Do I need an account to import?
- No personal account is needed. For social, photo and PDF imports the link or file is sent to our server and to AI providers to extract the recipe; your recipes stay on your device unless you switch on sync.
- Where do imported recipes end up?
- In Cookbooks under “Recently imported” and in “All recipes”. From there you can sort them into your own cookbooks, edit them, scale the servings or plan them in the week.
