Babypapiere Terms of Use
Version 1.0 · Effective 3 October 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Patrick Böttge, Ferdinand-Rhode-Str. 5, 04107 Leipzig, Germany (“we”, “us”). We provide the Babypapiere app (“Babypapiere” or the “App”). These Terms are also the license agreement for the App (custom EULA).
In short: Babypapiere is a checklist that helps you keep track of German deadlines, tasks and appointments around the birth of your child. It is not legal advice, not medical advice and not proof of anything. The responsible authorities, your pediatrician and the current STIKO schedule always take precedence.
1. Acceptance
You accept these Terms when you check the box and tap “Zustimmen und weiter” (Agree and continue) in the first step of the App. The App stores the version and time of your acceptance on your iPhone.
2. What Babypapiere does
Babypapiere
- uses your details (for example birth date or due date, place of birth, marital status, federal state, health insurance) to build an overview of tasks, deadlines and time windows around the birth;
- shows the time windows and tolerance limits of the German pediatric check-ups (U1–J1) under the guidelines of the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) and the general vaccination schedule of the Standing Committee on Vaccination (STIKO) as information, each as of the date shown in the App (“rules as of”);
- stores what you enter yourself: check-ups and vaccinations from the U-Heft and vaccination card, and appointments you have made with your pediatric practice;
- reminds you with local notifications on your iPhone of deadlines, time windows and the appointments you entered (Babypapiere Complete);
- creates checklists, templates and fill-in guides as PDF files from your details;
- stores scans of your documents protected on this iPhone (Babypapiere Complete);
- if you choose, shares deadlines and tasks – never health data – through your iCloud with one person you invite (Babypapiere Complete).
3. What Babypapiere does not do
No legal advice. Babypapiere gives general information based on a fixed set of rules that is the same for every user. It does not review your individual case, does not file applications and does not represent you towards any authority, the Familienkasse, the Elterngeldstelle, your health insurer or your employer. Special cases are not covered, or only partly, for example multiple births, adoption, cross-border situations, self-employment, separation or special rules for single parents. Whether and when you are entitled to a benefit, and which deadline applies to you, is decided by the responsible authority. The App shows every task in its rules; you decide yourselves whether a task applies to you (“Betrifft uns nicht” – not relevant to us). For questions about your case, contact the responsible authority, a counseling service or a lawyer.
Recommendations and legal deadlines. The App shows whether a date is a legal deadline (for example “Register by”) or a recommendation (for example “Recommended by” for Elterngeld). A recommendation is meant to help you not lose a benefit; it is not a statement about the last date on which an application is legally possible.
No medical advice, not a medical device. Babypapiere shows general time windows for the pediatric check-ups and the general STIKO vaccination schedule. The App does not calculate vaccination dates for your child, does not assess vaccination status and, for vaccinations, only reminds you of appointments you entered yourself. Whether, when and with what your child is examined or vaccinated is up to you and your pediatrician. The App does not diagnose and does not give a vaccination recommendation for your child. In an emergency, call 112.
Not proof. What you enter in Babypapiere is your own record. Overviews and checklists from the App are not proof, for example not under Section 20(9) or Section 34(10a) of the German Infection Protection Act. The template for your pediatric practice only becomes a medical certificate once the practice signs and stamps it. Fill-in guides are not applications.
Reminders. Babypapiere schedules reminders on your iPhone. iOS decides whether and when they are delivered. They may be late, silent or missing, for example if notifications for Babypapiere are turned off, a Focus mode is active, the iPhone is switched off or you change the date or time zone. Do not rely on reminders alone for deadlines where money is at stake.
4. Rules and updates
Deadlines, time windows and the vaccination schedule are based on the rules as of the date shown in Settings and on the documents. Laws, guidelines and recommendations change. We update the rules through App updates when the relevant rules change. Planned changes (for example draft legislation) are shown as a notice until they are passed. Please install updates promptly; outdated rules can lead to wrong dates.
5. Your responsibilities
Please enter your details correctly and keep them up to date (for example the actual birth date after the birth). Check important deadlines with the responsible authority before they expire, especially if your situation is not a typical one. Allow notifications if you want to use reminders. Babypapiere stores health data and documents only on this iPhone and never in iCloud; if you lose the iPhone, they are gone. Keep the originals (U-Heft, vaccination card, certificates) and back up your entries through Export in Settings if needed; scans from the document vault are not included in the export. You decide with whom you share exports and PDFs.
6. Privacy
How Babypapiere handles data is explained in the privacy policy (Settings › Datenschutz). We do not receive the data you enter in the App.
7. License
We grant you a non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the App on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions (including Family Sharing). You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell or distribute the App except as permitted by law.
8. Purchase
Babypapiere is free. The checklist for one child, the check-up overview, the vaccination schedule and the daycare (Kita) checklist stay free. “Babypapiere Complete” is a one-time purchase, not a subscription: it does not renew and costs nothing further. It is shared with your family through Family Sharing. Apple (Apple Distribution International Ltd.) sells and bills the purchase. Withdrawal and refunds are handled by Apple: according to Apple’s terms, within 14 days of receiving Apple’s invoice you can choose “Cancel transaction” (“Transaktion widerrufen”) in your Apple purchase history, or open Apple’s refund window in the App under Settings › Babypapiere Komplett › “Kauf widerrufen oder Erstattung anfragen”. We do not grant a separate withdrawal right of our own. On a new device, use “Restore Purchases”.
9. Updates and defects
We provide the updates needed to keep Babypapiere working as described, including security updates, for the period you can reasonably expect given the nature of the App (Section 327f of the German Civil Code). The statutory rules for digital products apply to defects (Sections 327 et seq. of the German Civil Code).
10. Liability
- We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under product liability law and under any guarantee.
- For slight negligence, we are only liable if we breach an obligation that makes the proper performance of this agreement possible in the first place and that you may regularly rely on – for example, that Babypapiere correctly calculates deadlines and time windows from your details under the rules as of the date shown. In that case our liability is limited to the damage that is typical and foreseeable for this type of agreement.
- Otherwise, our liability for slight negligence is excluded.
- These rules also apply to our representatives and agents.
11. Apple
- Parties. These Terms are between you and us only, not with Apple Inc. (“Apple”). We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the App and its content.
- Maintenance and support. We are solely responsible for maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the App.
- Warranty. If the App fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App. Your statutory rights against us (Section 9) are not affected.
- Product claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the App or your possession or use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to any legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- Intellectual property. If a third party claims that the App or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- Legal compliance. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Third-party terms. You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the App.
- Third-party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept them, Apple has the right (and is deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
12. Changes to these Terms
We will tell you about material changes to these Terms in the App and ask you to accept them before you continue. Changes do not apply to disputes you told us about before the change. Updates to the rules (Section 4) are not changes to these Terms.
13. Governing law and disputes
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you habitually live in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of that country. There is no arbitration agreement. You may bring claims in the courts where you live or in Germany. We are not willing or obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
14. General
If any provision of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. These Terms and the privacy policy are the entire agreement between you and us about Babypapiere. The German version (“Nutzungsbedingungen”) is available in the App under Settings › Nutzungsbedingungen; both versions are identical in substance.
