Summary
- We do not collect your data. Your wishes, plans, profile and occasions are stored on your iPhone and in iCloud – your own iCloud and, if you connect, the shared area in the iCloud of the partner who invited. We have no server and no access to them.
- Your secret plans are never shared, not even with your partner. They stay in your own private iCloud area.
- Your partner sees what you share: your wishes, your profile “What I like”, your occasions – and, if you bought Pro, Apple’s signed purchase confirmation so that Pro also works for your partner.
- No account, no analytics, no tracking, no sale of data. Experience ideas contain affiliate links that are marked “Ad” and carry no identifier of you.
1. Who is responsible
Patrick Böttge, Ferdinand-Rhode-Str. 5, 04107 Leipzig, Germany, [email protected] (“we”). Legal notice: in the App under Settings › Imprint.
2. What the App stores
The App stores the following on your iPhone and, if iCloud is turned on, syncs it through Apple CloudKit:
- you and your partner: name or monogram and colour you choose, your partner’s birthday and your anniversary if you enter them;
- wishes: kind (thing, experience, relief), title, link, photo, approximate price and currency, size/colour, importance, validity (for relief wishes), status (open, “I’ll do it”, fulfilled, archived) and when it was revealed;
- profile “What I like”: sizes with their size system, favourite colours, brands, flowers, sweets, coffee order, allergies and no-gos, wishlist note – only what you fill in yourself;
- occasions: kind, date, recurrence and reminder settings;
- secret plans: title, linked wish, occasion, budget and currency, status, checklist, note, link, photo and reveal date;
- Pro unlock: Apple’s signed purchase confirmation (transaction ID, product, expiry date, signature);
- settings (for example Face ID lock, reminders, size system, experience ideas on/off) and purchase status.
The data on your iPhone is protected by iOS data protection and, for plans, optionally by Face ID. Storing it on your device is strictly necessary for the service you asked for (§ 25(2) no. 2 German TDDDG).
Sensitive information. Wishes, profile entries and occasions can reveal details of your private life – for example that you are in a relationship with a person of the same sex, or health information such as allergies in your profile. This information is not sent to us; it stays on your devices and in iCloud, and you decide what you enter and share.
3. iCloud and Apple CloudKit
Princess Treatment uses Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit) to sync your data between your devices and to share it with your partner. Apple provides iCloud under its own terms and privacy policy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/); your iCloud account is your relationship with Apple. We have no access to your iCloud data, neither to your private area nor to the shared area.
- Your private area: your secret plans (and, without a partner, all your data) are stored in your private iCloud database.
- Shared area of a couple: if you connect, the wishes of both partners, both profiles, the occasions and the Pro unlock are stored in a shared zone in the private iCloud database of the partner who sent the invitation. It is shared with the invited partner through Apple’s iCloud sharing. If you were invited, your wishes and your profile are therefore stored in your partner’s iCloud and normally count towards your partner’s iCloud storage.
- Names in the invitation: when you share through iCloud, Apple may show each partner information from the other’s iCloud account (for example the name) as part of the invitation.
4. What your partner sees – and what happens when you disconnect
Your partner sees in the App what is in the shared area: your wishes (including status changes such as “fulfilled” after a reveal), your profile, your occasions and, if you bought Pro, your purchase confirmation (Section 2). Your partner’s App checks that confirmation on your partner’s device. Your partner never sees your plans or whether you have saved one of their wishes as a plan. Each entry carries its author; only the author can edit it.
You can end the connection at any time. Then your partner loses access to the shared data. Before ending, the App saves a local copy of your own wishes; plans always stay with their author. Anything your partner has already seen or noted outside the App cannot be withdrawn.
5. Link previews and opening links
When you save a link (for example a product page), your iPhone loads the title and image of that page directly from the website to show a preview. Like any website visit, the website operator receives your IP address, date and time and the link itself. The same applies when you open a saved link in Safari or in the merchant’s app. The website operator is responsible for this processing, and its privacy policy applies. We receive no data. Links are stored and opened unchanged; the App adds no tracking or partner parameters.
6. Experience ideas and affiliate links
The App shows curated experience ideas with links to third-party providers. They are affiliate links (marked “Ad”): if you book through them, we may receive a commission. The links are fixed in the App and contain no identifier of you or your device; we do not learn from the App whether you clicked or booked; we only receive commission reports from the provider or its affiliate network that do not identify you. The links open in Safari. When you open such a link, the provider receives your IP address and the link, and the provider or its affiliate network may set cookies in Safari to attribute a booking to our recommendation. Their privacy policies apply. You can turn experience ideas off in Settings.
7. Share extension, widget, reminders and Face ID
- Share extension: when you share a link from another app to Princess Treatment, the extension saves it in the App’s shared storage on your iPhone; the App then syncs it as described above.
- Widget: the widget “Small gesture today” reads data on your device and suggests one open wish of your partner. It never shows plans; the Lock Screen variant shows no content.
- Reminders and notifications: reminders for occasions are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. Their text is neutral (for example “A little reminder for Feb 14”) and never shows plan content. Notifications about news (for example a revealed wish) only appear if you have allowed notifications.
- Face ID: if you lock plans with Face ID, iOS checks your face on the device; the App only learns whether the check succeeded. If you decline, your device passcode is used.
- Not shown elsewhere: plans are not indexed in Spotlight or used for Siri suggestions, and the App hides the Plans tab in the app switcher.
- Sharing as text: “Share wishlist” creates a text with your wishes and links. You choose the recipient in the iOS share sheet; the recipient’s or app’s practices then apply.
The App does not access your location, contacts, calendar or chats.
8. Purchases
Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple. We do not receive your name, email address or payment details, only aggregated, non-identifying sales reports. Your purchase status is checked on your device. If you are connected, the App stores Apple’s signed purchase confirmation in the shared area so that your partner’s App can check it (Section 4). Pro can also be shared through Apple’s Family Sharing; Apple handles this.
9. When you contact us
If you email us, we process your email address and your message to answer you (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). Please only send us details about your relationship or your partner if they are needed for your request. We delete these emails when your request is closed, unless we must keep them longer by law. Our email provider: Apple (iCloud Mail), Apple Distribution International Ltd., Ireland.
10. No tracking, no analytics, no ad networks
Princess Treatment contains no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or tracking technology and no third-party SDKs. The only advertising in the App are the marked experience ideas with static links (Section 6). We do not sell or share personal information and do not use it for targeted advertising. There is nothing to opt out of, so we do not respond to “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signals separately.
11. Requests from authorities
We do not store your wishes, plans or profiles, so we cannot disclose them to anyone, including law enforcement. Data in iCloud is held by Apple under its own policies.
12. Age
Princess Treatment is meant for adults aged 18 or older (Terms Section 1). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
13. Security
Your data is protected by iOS data protection, your device passcode and, optionally, Face ID for plans, and in iCloud by Apple’s security measures. Because we have no server, we hold no copy of your data. If we ever learn of a breach affecting data the App handles, we will inform affected users and authorities as required by law (Art. 33–34 GDPR).
14. International transfers
If you contact us from outside the EU, your email is transferred to us in Germany. Apple (App Store, iCloud, notifications) may process data in the United States and other countries under its own privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
15. Your rights (EU, EEA, UK)
You can view, change and delete your wishes, plans, profile and occasions in the App at any time, end the connection with your partner and turn off iCloud for the App in your iPhone settings. Where we process personal data (in practice: your support emails), you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR / UK GDPR) and may complain to a supervisory authority, for example the Saxon Data Protection and Transparency Commissioner (Sächsische Datenschutz- und Transparenzbeauftragte, SDTB), Maternistraße 17, 01067 Dresden, Germany, www.datenschutz.sachsen.de or, in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office.
16. Changes
We will update this policy when the App changes and show the new effective date. Material changes (for example a new partner programme or a new kind of shared data) are announced in the App in advance and, where required, need your consent.
