TipStub Privacy Policy
Effective October 3, 2026 · Version 1.0
Summary
- We do not collect your data. Everything you enter in TipStub stays on your iPhone and, if you turn on iCloud Sync, in your own private iCloud storage. We cannot see it.
- No account, no bank connection, no tracking, no ads, no data sales.
- We never ask for or store your Social Security number. Tip reports leave the SSN field blank for you to fill in by hand.
1. Who is responsible
Patrick Böttge, Ferdinand-Rhode-Str. 5, 04107 Leipzig, Germany, [email protected] (“we”). Legal notice: in the App under Settings › Legal Notice.
2. Data stored on your device
TipStub stores the following information only on your device, so the App can work:
- shifts you log: dates, hours, overtime hours, cash tips, card tips, tip-outs, notes;
- monthly totals you add for earlier months: cash tips, card tips, tip-outs and overtime hours per employer;
- employers you add: name, address (optional), occupation, hourly rate, overtime pay rate, workweek start;
- your tax profile: filing status, estimated income, occupation, eligibility answers;
- Form W-2 figures you enter for comparison (box 12 codes TP and TT, box 14b occupation code);
- optional report details: your name and address (used only to fill in your tip reports);
- settings (for example reminder time, Face ID lock) and the version and date of the Terms of Use you accepted.
We have no access to this data. It is protected by iOS data protection and, if you turn it on, Face ID. If you delete the App or use “Delete All Data”, it is removed from your device.
3. iCloud Sync (optional)
If you turn on iCloud Sync, your data is stored in your private iCloud database, operated by Apple for you. We cannot access your private iCloud data. Apple’s privacy policy applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
4. Reports you export
When you create a tip report, a summary or a CSV file, TipStub generates it on your device. You decide whether and with whom you share it (for example your employer or tax professional). Once shared, the recipient’s privacy practices apply.
5. Reminders
Reminders (after shifts, before tip reports are due, before a free trial ends and before a yearly subscription renews) are local notifications scheduled on your device. No data leaves your device to send them.
6. Purchases
Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple. We do not receive your name, email address or payment details. Apple provides us with aggregated, non-identifying sales reports. Your purchase status is checked on your device.
6a. Age range
To meet state app-store age laws (for example in Texas), TipStub asks Apple’s Declared Age Range feature for an age range when you open the App. The age range is checked only on your device and is not stored or shared. If it shows that you are under 18, the App shows a notice instead of the Terms of Use, because TipStub is for adults.
7. When you contact us
If you email us, we process your email address and the content of your message to answer you (legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR – answering your request). We delete these emails when your request is closed, unless we must keep them longer by law (for example tax retention periods for purchase-related correspondence). Our email provider: Apple (iCloud Mail), Apple Distribution International Ltd., Ireland. We never use support emails for marketing.
8. No tracking, analytics or advertising
TipStub contains no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or tracking technology. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising. Because we do not track you, we do not respond to “Do Not Track” signals – there is nothing to turn off.
9. Children
TipStub is intended for adults (18+). It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
10. Your rights
Because your data is stored only on your device and in your own iCloud, you can view, correct, export and delete it yourself at any time in the App.
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection regarding any personal data we process (in practice: your support emails), and you may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, for example the Saxon Data Protection and Transparency Commissioner (Sächsische Datenschutz- und Transparenzbeauftragte, SDTB), Maternistraße 17, 01067 Dresden, Germany, www.datenschutz.sachsen.de. US residents may contact us with any privacy request; we will respond even where state privacy laws do not apply to us.
11. International transfers
If you contact us from outside the EU, your email is transferred to us in Germany. Apple (iCloud, App Store) may process data in the United States under its own privacy policy and data transfer mechanisms.
12. Changes
We will update this policy when the App changes and show the new effective date. Material changes are announced in the App.
